American Library Association Annual Meeting 2017

This guide contains the ALA 2017 Poster Presentation by NCU Librarians.

Research Consultation Satisfaction Survey data (Figure 1) and feedback comments indicate that satisfaction with online research consultations is high. In January 2016, a question was added asking patrons to comment with the skills they learned during the consultation. Those 20 responses have been categorized into skills learned (Figure 2). Note that some patrons reported learning multiple skills. These responses provide evidence of student learning as a result of the online consultation.

In January 2017, librarians began distributing the dissertation chair and faculty surveys. By the end of April, there were just 14 completed responses (Figure 3). More data collection is needed in this area. However, early research indicates that students are better able to locate relevant resources for their topics and provide better quality citations following an online research consultation.
