International Research

You are conducting international research if you or your research assistants (people collecting data for you) will be on-the-ground in a country outside of the United States while you are recruiting and/or collecting your data. If you or your research assistants will be on-the-ground outside of the United States, you are responsible for reviewing the International Compilation of Human Research Standards and determining the research regulations for the country where you will be doing your research. You must also account for cultural norms, values, and belief systems of the country or region.

If the country of research is not outlined in the International Compilation of Human Research Standards, you will be responsible for working with an IRB/HRPP/research review committee that has the proper expertise and training to give proper guidance and/or permissions for you to conduct said research. Please attend IRB Office Hours to discuss such a study.
