Data Collection Instruments
If you are doing human subjects research, you will need to create all of the data collection instruments that you will use with your participants before you submit your IRB application. Common data collection instruments include:
- Interview questions
- Focus group questions
- Survey or questionnaire
- Observation sheet
- Curriculum or training materials for an educational intervention
If you will be distributing an online survey or questionnaire, please read the requirements in the Online Surveys and Questionnaires page.
The following resources may be helpful to creating your data instruments, depending on your study design.
