Exploring the Academic Success Center and Law Library Orientation ion

September 1 and September 19 at 1:00 p.m.

October 6 and October 17 at 1:00 p.m.

Join us for a tour of the Academic Success Center (ASC) and Law Library, where you will learn what services are available to assist you with developing skills in legal writing and research.  The ASC and Library Law Resources Orientation is for law students who want to understand where to access resources for legal citations, writing, and research to provide you with the support you need to achieve your academic goals.  Coaching Scheduler

One of the main skills you will use in law school is case briefing. Case briefing is how you summarize and pull relevant information from a case. This group session will focus on improving students’ abilities to brief a case as well as improving their efficiency.  Coaching Scheduler

Legal writing is a skill that you will continue to hone and master for the entirety of your legal career. In the IRAC small group session, you will have the opportunity to reinforce your understanding of the IRAC format and ensure that you’ve mastered the foundation on which all legal writing is based on. You will additionally have the opportunity to discuss the finer points of the IRAC format and receive answers to any outstanding questions you have related to IRAC.  Coaching Scheduler

An outline is the primary way students organize the cases they have briefed during the semester. Outlining, done correctly, can make it easier to study for legal exams, including the bar exam.  Coaching Scheduler

Saturday at 10:00 a.m. 

This group session will focus on reinforcing students’ objective writing skills, with an emphasis on students’ objective memos for class. The skills that will be addressed in the sessions include writing an effective issue statement, succinct facts section, and organization of your analysis.  Coaching Scheduler

This group session will focus on reinforcing students’ persuasive writing skills, with an emphasis on students’ persuasive memos for class.
